Harrison Ford's Current Home in Los Angeles since September 2010

Our education programs are perfect for the entire family. In its past life, the ship transported iron ore and related materials across the Great Lakes for more than 50 years. Then, it was sold to Frank J. Sullivan of Sullivan Marine in Cleveland, Ohio, who took the ship's forecastle deck and converted it into a summer home in 1986. The 7,000 square-foot, four-story structure features walnut-paneled staterooms, dining room, galley and passenger lounge – all designed for Henry Ford's pleasure for his business on the ship. If you decide to drive downtown, make a plan and prearrange parking. Many off-street lots and garages are booked, and street parking will be limited or restricted in the area.

Ultimately, USC came calling -- and the rest was history. Wilks wanted his private home to be underground with a pyramid roof as its main source of light. He wanted a lake, a pool, a wood-burning fireplace and a living room fountain. Using money earned mostly by playing the stock market, he made his dream come true. But Ohio's strangest abodes offer memorably unique twists on what some people call home sweet home. From its construction in 1920 to its renovation in 2017, learn about a century of Ford history.

The Perry's Mount Pleasant House was considered the finest and most expensive residence to arrive in mid-1870s Los Angeles. During the rapid urban expansion of the 1960s, Victorian buildings in Los Angeles were being demolished at an alarming rate. The Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument program, established in 1961, could evaluate properties and list-register them, but not protect them. In 1969, at the request of the Los Angeles Cultural Heritage Commission, a group of concerned citizens established the Cultural Heritage Foundation to counteract this destruction.

The passion is still there for the couple, 50-year-old Flockhart and 72-year-old Ford, who were recently photographed by paparazzi smooching at the airport. The outward sweep of the entrance stairway, the sculpted brackets under the eaves, the slanted bay windows, and the narrow Corinthian columns are characteristic of its Victorian Italianate style. In 1975, the house was moved from 1315 Mount Pleasant Street to the museum grounds, and restoration was begun by the Colonial Dames Society of America. Heritage Square Museum is a living history and open-air architecture museum located beside the Arroyo Seco Parkway in the Montecito Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, in the southern Arroyo Seco area. The living history museum shows the story of development in Southern California through historical architectural examples. We promise you’ll leave with something more than you came.

The Mount Pleasant House was built in 1876 by prominent businessman and lumber baron William Hayes Perry. Designed by renowned architect Ezra F. Kysor, the home contains detailing to convey the wealth and social status of the family. These elements include Corinthian columns, fine hardwood floors, a sweeping main staircase, and marble fireplace mantles. It was built in the fashionable neighborhood (in the 19th century) of Boyle Heights.

of the weirdest and most unique Ohio houses

This 3,600-square-foot home situated in Painesville resembles something straight out of Bedrock, hence its nickname as the Flintstones House. Built in the 1970s by artist Wayne Trapp, the 5-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom home was constructed using concrete and foam. “(Suuronen) always said it was based on the number pi — the design was mathematical rather than prompted by spaceships and flying saucers,” Simon Robson, owner of the website thefuturohouse.com, told Ohio Magazine.

Hours & Locations

This peculiar abode situated in Cincinnati's Hyde Park neighborhood is the work of architect Terry Brown. The home features a fantastical cedar-shingled exterior, a glass room that nearly floats next to the main structure and a bright orange spiral suitcase leading to the front entrance. The NFL will have weapon detectors installed that attendees must walk through at the gates of the event, which will take place at Cadillac Square, Campus Martius, Hart Plaza and a portion of Woodward Avenue.

Fun for the Whole Family

Detroit is a city rich with museums, restaurants and activities throughout. The 2024 NFL draft is free to attend and open to the public. If you're planning to attend, though, you will need to register using the NFL OnePass app or online through the website. The 3,795-square-foot property was acquired by Mr. Ford in 1997 for a pinch over $2 million, property records show. The home has all the characteristics of a typical home by Neutra, who was famed for his Southern California buildings, which were geometric, with boxy frames of steel and glass and open-plan layouts. It was during the long ownership by the Foundation from 1980 to 2011 that the house was used as a filming location, establishing it as one of the most famous houses in Los Angeles.

After the rains the building was briefly red-tagged as "no entry" but was down graded to yellow- for limited entry by late 2005. At that point significant damage to the retaining wall at the southern rear of the building remained. In 2005 the house was added to the National Trust for Historic Preservation's list of the "11 Most Endangered Historic Places". According to online property sites, the asking price on Ford's former luxury retreat breaks down to $2,785 per square foot and a monthly payment of $138,506. Harrison Ford's former estate in a very exclusive part of Los Angeles is currently for sale, and whoever buys it will end up owning a piece of movie history. The Salt Box was one of the last homes on Bunker Hill, and one of the first moved to the Heritage Square Museum grounds.

It has a place of remembrance as a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument. The carriage barn was built in 1899 on the grounds of what is now Pasadena's Huntington Memorial Hospital for Dr. Osborne, a member of the hospital's staff. Its architectural style is Queen Anne Cottage with Gothic Revival influences. It has three gables and a distinctive pitched roof. The barn was saved from demolition and moved to the Heritage Square Museum in 1981.

The Foundation organized Heritage Square as a last-chance haven for architecturally and historically significant buildings to be moved to, which otherwise would have been demolished at their original locations. Bob Chinn, founder of namesake Wheeling crab house, dies at 99 CBS Chicago

bob chinn's crab house

After years of planning and development, the father/daughter team negotiated the purchase of a shuttered building on Milwaukee Avenue in Wheeling. The 175-seat “Bob Chinn’s Crab House” Restaurant opened two days before Christmas in 1982 and was an instant success. In the late 80’s, Bob Chinn’s opened additional seating on the porch and eventually became a 650-seat restaurant. After a fire damaged his parents' restaurant, Chinn salvaged the kitchen equipment and started a carryout business called the Golden Pagoda in Evanston, according to the crab house.

More from CBS News

He is survived by his brother Howard Chinn, daughter Marilyn Chinn LeTourneau, son Michael Chinn, seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Outside of the crab house, Mr. Chinn lived spontaneously — driving his family from the horse track in Albany, New York, to Montreal once for dinner because he heard about a good barbecue spot there. Or going the opposite way to take his granddaughter to see an MTV show being filmed in Times Square. His parents owned an Uptown restaurant called the New Wilson Village, and they lived about two blocks north of Wrigley Field, the restaurant said. Chinn came up with the idea for Bob Chinn’s Crab House after traveling the world and tasting the best seafood from Alaska to Australia. Everywhere he went he talked to fishermen and suppliers, even going out on crab boats in Alaska, to persuade them to send their food to his outposts in Illinois.

How Bob Chinn's Crab House Became The Highest-Grossing Restaurant In The U.S.

A fresh seafood restaurant in the middle of the country? Mr. Chinn opened it in Wheeling in 1982 with his daughter Marilyn Chinn LeTourneau. Bob Chinn, whose Bob Chinn’s Crab House on Milwaukee Avenue in Wheeling brought droves of customers to the northwest suburbs and became one of the nation’s highest-grossing restaurants, died Friday at 99. In 1978 Bob Chinn and his daughter, Marilyn, began to travel around the country doing research for the Midwestern seafood restaurant Bob had envisioned for some time.

Bob Chinn's Crab House

According to a biography from the restaurant, Chinn was born March 2, 1923 as the third of seven children in Duluth, Minnesota. His parents, Wai and Yung Shee Ong Chinn, were immigrants from Toishan, China. "Everyone who has walked through the doors of his eponymous restaurant has been a part of this incredible journey and we'd like to thank you all."

Bob Chinn was 59 years old when he started the business that would come to define him. His restaurant tops our list of the nation's highest-grossing restaurants with an estimated $24 million in annual revenue. Numbers were provided by CHD Expert and do not include alcohol sales. It had 700 seats and served 2,500 meals a day, flying in 3,000 pounds of fresh seafood daily. Nothing was off the table — a Chinese takeout spot in Wilmette that also served pizza?

More from CBS News

Milwaukee Ave. in Wheeling, announced Chinn's death on Facebook on Friday evening. So he decided to branch out on his own with Bob Chinn’s Crab House. To ensure that things don’t go downhill at the restaurant Chinn, now 89, has decided he can’t retire (though he does spend six months out of each year in Hawaii).

The catering business took off, but three years later Chinn decided to move on leaving the business to his brother-in-law. Chinn, whose parents immigrated from China, dropped out of high school to join the Army in World War II and has been working ever since. His first business was supplying patterned plates to Chinese restaurants. From there he moved on to selling equipment, remodeling and eventually helping his family members open restaurants. Jean Chinn, Mr. Chinn’s wife of 62 years, died in 2016.

He later opened the House of Chan in Wilmette and later the Kahala Terrace – and finally Bob Chinn's Crab House in Wheeling just before Christmas 1982, according to Chinn's bio. In the 1970s, when he was running a Chinese restaurant with his wife’s brother, a customer came in and asked them to cater a party for 100 people. Chinn had never done catering, but he immediately agreed and put together a luau complete with grass mats and a roasted pig.

Bob Chinn's Crab House

Chinn has 3,000 pounds of fresh seafood flown in every day. Guests can check out the cargo bills while they wait for tables. The restaurant earns a 24 (out of 30) for food from Zagat and loyalists crow about the swordfish, of course the crabs and even the steak. What started out as a 250-seat restaurant has grown to 700 seats serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Diners are shuffled through several wait stations but rarely loose their cool.

In Honolulu he has a company that scours the fish market every morning and overnights the best picks to Bob Chinn’s. The Wheeling restaurant took in $24 million a year in food sales alone and was named by Forbes magazine as the highest-grossing restaurant in the nation in 2012. Mr. Chinn started delivering Chinese food on foot at 14 and dropped out of high school to join the Army during World War II, serving for three years outside Belfast, Northern Ireland.

He’s also helping two of his eight grandchildren start a business selling his Mai Tais in supermarkets using special packaging to keep the fruit juices fresh. His family is planning a public celebration of life, with details to be posted on the restaurant’s Facebook page. “The quality of the food, how people were treated, that they had fun and that everybody was like old friends when they came in,” Marilyn Chinn LeTourneau said.

“He lived life to the fullest in every situation,” said Carly LeTourneau, Mr. Chinn’s granddaughter. By the age of 14, Chinn was delivering Chinese food himself. He went on to serving three years in the Army during World War II, according to the restaurant. CHICAGO (CBS) -- Bob Chinn, the namesake of the iconic crab house in Wheeling, has died.

Bob Chinn talks to customers at his restaurant in 1999. A “serial entrepreneur,” Mr. Chinn began opening restaurants. One of his early ventures, in Miami Beach, quickly failed, but he carried on in the Chicago suburbs. The restaurant expanded and became the fourth top grossing independent restaurant in the United States, Chinn's bio said.

This team needs a lot of help, but Young has to be encouraged with what he’s seen so far. The Panthers solidified the guard spots, which are essential cornerstones for small-statured quarterbacks, and upgraded the team’s physical toughness with Legette and Brooks. Nothing is going to replicate the loss of Christian McCaffrey and DJ Moore, but investing in players who can take shorter passes and turn them into larger gains will help a quarterback who was forced to do way too much a year ago. New head coach Dave Canales worked with the checkdown-heavy Baker Mayfield a year ago, who is consistently at his best when comfortable having short-range outlets to dump the ball to for easy first downs.

For those intimidated by that massive size, there’s the crostata alla Fiorentina, a prime dry-aged, bone-in New York steak that registers only 36 ounces. The prime rib is still the draw here, though the outrageously neon interior is its own reason to go. Or, rather, reverts back to the 1950’s, when Baked Alaska, pepper steaks and hand-spun salads hit each table, and the room looks like a plastic jungle of fake foliage. With the Jets, he has, despite his conspiratorial leanings, attempted to paint himself as a consummate leader and make himself available during nonmandatory workouts. Those behind the scenes attest to his in-house professionalism, which was a breath of fresh air in a facility begging for an elevated standard at the position. But, the selection of Malachi Corley as a yards after catch specialist, the likes of which are seemingly featured in all of the offenses with Shanahan tentacles, is an interesting one. He’s best equipped when getting the ball right off the snap, which should remove some of the complications related to Rodgers getting younger wide receivers the ball. We forget that, after Garrett Wilson, this Jets offense still needs a second gear in terms of game-breaking playmakers. Should the team remain on the sideline for a Samuel or Aiyuk deal, the development of Corley will be critical toward keeping the offense efficient.

• Day 2 began with a run on defensive players with 20 selected in Round 1 after only nine were taken in Round 1. Last year, there were three off-ball linebackers taken by pick No. 45, which makes you wonder if there has been an adjustment on how GMs are viewing the coming offensive landscape. Now, I feel we’re looking at more of a divide , with hybrid safeties who can play the run well, or faster linebackers who can stop the pass. Our experienced staff will ensure every detail is exactly right, from personalized event planning and award-winning wines to a customized or a la carte menu. Beverly Grove’s Carlitos Gardel features Argentinian-grilled USDA prime steaks at exceptionally reasonable prices. Opt for the parrillada plate, as it comes with skirt steak, short ribs, sausages, and sweetbreads for a sampling of everything grilled and glorious.

The interior still matches the name, too, complete with faux luggage racks and the wood-paneled feel of dining car days gone by. A legendary Hollywood Blvd. haunt, Musso & Frank Grill has been cutting steaks since 1919. The decor hasn’t changed much since then, and the waiters still wear those bright red jackets, but for pure charm (and a great bar), it’s hard to beat.

Burbank’s 77-year-old Smoke House is a time capsule with red leather booths, white tablecloths, a carpet that’s likely decades old, neon signs, and so much casual charm. The slow-roasted prime rib is the house specialty and is served au jus for a reasonable $42. In fact, the Smoke House’s menu is one of the best deals in town, especially the tri-tip sandwich for $22. Head to the top floor of Eataly in Century City Terra and take a moment to observe the sprawling views with a whiff of smoky flavors emanating from the grill. Always take recommendations from Terra’s seasoned staff, but it’s best to start with burrata, grilled bread, and salads before moving on to grilled fish and meat skewers.

• Detroit Lions GM Brad Holmes is either incredibly lucky, or understands how a board is going to fall. He said what all general managers do when drafting Terrion Arnold on Thursday night—that he had no idea Arnold was actually going to be there. I would imagine he felt similarly when Ennis Rakestraw Jr. was sitting there at pick No. 61. For what it’s worth, I had Rakestraw going to the Ravens at the end of Round 1. You can just see him lining up tight on Green Bay’s trio of young wide receivers and sorting out some confusing array of routes from a bunch set, and shutting the whole thing down.
